The Takeley 10k started in 2010 with the aim of bringing the village together to raise funds for the refurbishment of the Silver Jubilee Hall and
149 runners finished the inaugural race and despite a few inevitable hiccups the event was a huge success – many of the participants
commented on the enjoyable atmosphere. Numbers were up to 266 in 2011, with local running clubs starting to target the race.
In 2014 there were 330 finishers. By the time all the bills were paid and the contributions of our sponsors added in, the five years of the event
have raised nearly £27000 for the Hall project.
Phase 1 of the refurbishment was completed in May2014, including new electrics, plumbing, insulation, air re-circulating and doors for the
main hall. Phase 2, now being planned, will deal with the toilets and a new entrance area linked to the Social Club.
